McGuire clear for Challenge Cup semi
22/07/2008
Leeds stand-off Danny McGuire has been cleared to play for the Rhinos in Saturday's Carnegie Challenge Cup semi-final against St Helens.
The England international was forced to appear before a Rugby Football League (RFL) disciplinary committee after being accused of making a high tackle during his side's 39-24 engage Super League win over Catalans Dragons.
The 25-year-old was found guilty but escaped with a £300 fine rather than a suspension and so will be free to line up for the Rhinos at Huddersfield's Galpharm Stadium on Saturday.
Wigan hooker Michael McIlorum was also called before the RFL committee.
He was given a two-match ban as a result of his dismissal for a reckless high tackle in the Warriors' 46-12 defeat by St Helens last Friday.
McIlorum was sent off just five minutes into the game at the JJB Stadium for a dangerous tackle on Great Britain winger Ade Gardner, and also received a £300 fine to go with his ban.
His team-mate Richards Mathers, who was cited for alleged striking in the match against St Helens, was found not guilty.
