Morgan signs new Hull KR deal

18/04/2007

Hull Kingston Rovers head coach Justin Morgan has signed a new two-year contract extension, which ties him to the club until 2010.

Morgan, an up-and-coming coaching talent in rugby league, is the youngest head coach in the Super League after taking the club up from National League Division One last season.

He joined the club in 2005 from French side Toulouse and has been a hit at Craven Park since his arrival.

"This is a huge step forward for me as a coach," Morgan said.

"My original contract went up until the end of 2008, but this opportunity gives me the chance to help improve the capabilities of the talented squad that I have.

"As the club's future prospects are extremely bright and, along with the devoted support from our fans, I am very confident the club will succeed in our bid for continued Super League status."

Hull KR chairman Neil Hudgell said he was "thrilled" to have extended Morgan's stay in the city.

"We have secured what we believe to be the brightest young coach around, for the next three-and-a-half years," he said.

"For us to make progress continuity is essential, and the deal we have done with Justin will enable him to continue to develop the side at senior level and equally, and possibly more importantly, to re-establish and develop the junior academy."

In their first season in the top flight of European rugby league, Hull KR find themselves tenth after four wins from their first ten games.
