Morley needs more surgery
20/03/2007
Warrington Wolves star Adrian Morley will require more surgery to repair a second facial fracture after getting injured on the first match of his comeback.
The 29-year-old forward originally damaged his eye socket in the first half of Warrington's opening Super League match against Wigan in early February.
Now, a clash of heads with team-mate Paul Johnson after just 17 minutes of Sunday's match against Hull KR appears to have ruled him out for up to another month.
And Morley, who originally spent several hours in a hyperbaric chamber to speed up his recovery from the injury he suffered on his Wolves debut, admitted the latest setback was "a real sickener".
"I am absolutely devastated," he told the Manchester Evening News. "This is a different part of my face but it's another freak accident.
"I just couldn't believe it. I knew straight away it wasn't too good because my face started to indent and it was swollen.
"I will probably have surgery later this week and face a similar lay-off to last time but I will again use the hyperbaric chamber to try and speed up my recovery."
Warrington have made a solid start to their Super League campaign this year, with four wins from their first six matches, although fans remain concerned about whether the team can compete with the top sides after a 48-12 home demolition by St Helens 11 days ago.
