NRL star Robinson to join Quins next season

01/07/2008

Harlequins have announced they are to sign Parramatta Eels utility forward Chad Robinson on a two-year deal from 2009.

The 27-year-old, who primarily plays in the second row but can also slot in at loose forward or prop, has also played for the Sydney Roosters in the Australian NRL.

Robinson is expected to arrive in London in November for pre-season training with his new team-mates.

And Harlequins head coach Brain McDermott believes the versatile forward will have a major part to play in next season's Super League.

"This is a position that we have been looking to recruit for for quite some time. Since the beginning of last season we haven't really filled it," McDermott said.

"While we will still continue to show faith in our youth we need to have a seasoned player in this position and we are very pleased that person is Chad."

Robinson said he is eager to get started in the English capital and cannot wait for his first taste of Super League action.

"The more I read and research about London and Harlequins the more excited I get," he said.

"From my interaction so far with the club they seem to be very professional and well directed so I am expecting likewise when I arrive to play in the English Super League.

"I'm looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and coach, and also catching up with a few of the players in the team that I already know."ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18664963-ADNFCR
