Noble boost for Britain
10/05/2006
Brian Noble has hit back at reports suggesting he could be about to step down as head coach of the Great Britain rugby league team.
Sources had claimed Noble was keen on focusing solely on the task at hand at new club Wigan Warriors and that he would relinquish his national team duties.
However, the Super League mainstay told a press conference this morning that he is still fully committed to Great Britain and that he would like to stay on when his contract expires after this year's Tri-Nations Series.
"I'm out of contract at the end of the year and that's when everybody takes stock of where they're at," he said.
"I'm as committed to Great Britain as I've ever been and I'd like to do it for another ten years if that's possible."
Noble, who has enjoyed an instant impact at the JJB since moving from Bradford last month, added that he still relished the international challenge.
"I enjoy it. It's a great group of people to work with and I think we've created the right environment for people to improve on that international stage," he said.
"It's a great job and I love doing it but I'm also very committed to the club thing. After six years now non-stop, at the end of next year I don't think there is a massive international schedule. I'd like to coach England in 2008, there is no doubt about that. I don't know what more commitment people will want."
