Noble disappointed with result
11/11/2006
Great Britain coach Brian Noble was left disappointed following his side's humiliating defeat in Wellington today but claims they can still make the Tri-Nations final.
He said: "I was a little bit disappointed, full credit to the Kiwis. They were very strong and physical tonight and determined."
"They ran harder than we did and tackled harder than we did. We didn't build any pressure this week. There are some lessons for us in terms of the top level, like the arm wrestle you have to get into to win the top games."
Captain Jamie Peacock added: "The skill was poor throughout the game, they asked us lots of questions and we did not have the answers."
Having been docked points for fielding an ineligible player in the first encounter between the sides, New Zealand knew they had to win, but the trouncing now means that they are ahead on points difference and leaves the Lions needing a result against Australia next week.
New Zealand captain Ruben Wiki said: "I'm very happy. Everyone did their bit for the team and we got the result we wanted, it was [by] believing in ourselves and concentrating on us."
Britain must adopt a similar attitude themselves if they are to overcome the powerful Aussies for a second straight time.
"I am always confident we can find a result. We just need to have a look at ourselves and see what we did right and what we did wrong," Noble concluded.
