Noble told no more signings
07/07/2006
Wigan coach Brian Noble has said he is not intending to bring any more new faces to the JJB stadium this season.
Noble persuaded owner Dave Whelan to stump up a world record transfer fee to bring Stuart Fielden to the relegation-threatened club from Bradford last month.
Kris Radlinski's decision to come out of retirement has also stretched the club's coffers and now Warriors chairman Maurice Lindsay is demanding Noble deliver results worthy of the outlay.
This has put a temporary freeze on Noble's transfer activity but he will look again at strengthening the squad for next term.
"When players are signed, sealed and delivered we will announce them," Noble said. "We are working quite hard, but unfortunately not for this season. We have to run with what we have got now."
Wigan are still languishing at the foot of the Super League table but are now just two points behind Wakefield and Catalans Dragons.
"I am confident we can play better," Noble added. "Whilst we have been making improvements, we are still not where we want to be.
"The only way we are going to get there is if we work hard for each other. We are always confident going into games but we need to keep making improvements and focus on doing the right things."
