O'Loughlin charge adds to Wigan woes

18/04/2006

Wigan Warriors have been dealt a further blow with the news that skipper Sean O'Loughlin has been hit with a disciplinary charge by the Rugby Football League for a high tackle.

The RFL's video review panel has referred O'Loughlin to the governing body's disciplinary committee on a charge of alleged striking for a challenge on Mark Tookey during the closing stages of the Warriors' 30-18 defeat by Harlequins yesterday.

The 23-year-old loose forward will come before the panel tomorrow and, if found guilty, could be ruled out of several games through suspension.

His loss would come as a major blow for the Super League basement boys, who have won just one of their ten games so far this season.

The Warriors are currently manargerless following the dismissal of Ian Milward a fortnight ago.

However, chairman Maurice Lindsay has confirmed that he is in "advanced" discussions with Bradford Bulls boss Brian Noble in a bid to bring the experienced boss to the JJB in an attempt to revive the club's fortunes.
