Paul linked to GB call-up
02/05/2006
New Zealand-born Henry Paul could be thrust into the Great Britain squad for this year's Tri-Nations series, it has emerged today.
The 32-year-old, who recently returned to rugby league after spending five years in union, previously won 24 caps for the All Blacks rugby league team.
But Britain boss Brian Noble, who has today admitted he could be stepping down after the tournament, has been told he can include the Harlequins RL player in his future squads.
And Noble is convinced that Paul, who he coached during their time together at Bradford, can have a huge impact on his team.
"I will look at anyone if they can add something to the squad and they are interested. Henry stamps all the right categories," the new Wigan Warriors coach told the BBC.
"He has been playing league since he was three years old. It is like riding a bike. It's a question of how quickly he gets back up to speed. He's quite a fit bloke."
Paul, who played for the England rugby union side, qualifies for the Lions through an English grandparent.
He marked his return to Super League by coming off the bench on Saturday to help his new team to a 22-16 win over Huddersfield.
