Peacock targets Kiwi whitewash

05/11/2007

Great Britain captain Jamie Peacock has said he is not content with just a series win against New Zealand following Saturday's thumping win in the second Test.

The home team secured a first series victory over the Kiwis for 14 years with a demolition job of Gary Kemble's side at Hull's KC Stadium, running out 44-0 winners.

But Peacock said he will not be happy unless his men can complete a whitewash of the visitors this weekend, as this will inspire confidence ahead of the Rugby League World Cup next year.

"It's a great feeling, a new feeling," the Leeds Rhinos prop said.

"We've played so many times and not won a series so to go 2-0 up is fantastic.

"Hopefully we can put another performance together and put the series to bed 3-0 and get some confidence going into the World Cup."

The margin of victory over the New Zealanders was their heaviest defeat since a 58-0 trampling by rivals Australia earlier this year.

And Peacock said the difference in class between Great Britain and the Kiwis should now prove what the world pecking order is.

"On the results, you've got to say we are now second [behind Australia]," the former Bradford Bulls player added.

"I know they have some players missing with injuries but we have had a lot of players retiring too."ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18342077-ADNFCR
