Quins capture Fa'afili
05/09/2007
Harlequins RL side have announced the signing of New Zealand international Henry Fa'afili from Warrington Wolves on a two-year deal.
Fa'afili is the current leading try-scorer in Super League having crossed the whitewash 20 times this season.
The Samoan-born winger has a consistent record and has been in the league's top five try-scorers every year since he joined the Wolves in 2004.
Harlequins head coach Brian McDermott hopes the Kiwi will add some much needed fire power to one of the leagues lowest-scoring sides.
"We are very excited about having a proven try scorer. He has been either the top, or one of the top try scorers in Super League over the last few years," he said.
"As a player he also offers versatility, he can play back row as well as centre and wing."
Fa'afili represented Samoa during the 2000 World Cup but has gone on to play for New Zealand nine times since making his debut in 2001.
Warrington made the decision to release Fa'afili last week and the winger says he is determined to prove the Wolves wrong for letting him go.
The 27-year-old claims he is looking forward to joining Quins for the next two years.
He said: "I'm really excited to be moving down to London to join the Harlequins. I have had some good chats with both Brian McDermott and [board member] Tony Rea and the set up they have there sounds great.
"It's going to be a new challenge for myself and I'm looking forward to it."
