Quins quintet handed bans after stormy Dragons clash
16/07/2008
Harlequins prop Louis McCarthy-Scarsbrook has been handed a three-match ban following the violent clashes in their defeat to Catalans Dragons.
The young forward was found guilty of punching during his side's 32-26 defeat by a disciplinary panel of the Rugby Football League (RFL), which also gave him a £300 fine.
As a result of the ugly fracas towards the end of the game, three of McCarthy-Scarsbrook's team-mates - full-back Rikki Sheriffe, centre David Howell and back-row forward Michael Worrincy - were given one-match suspensions and a £300 fine each.
Centre Tony Clubb was also handed a one-match ban and a £300 fine, but for a separate incident in the first half when he was cited for a careless high tackle.
The bad-tempered clash also saw Dragons stand-off Adam Mogg sent off for punching, an offence for which he has been punished with a one-match ban and a £300 fine.
As a result, the Australian will miss the Perpignan side's crucial home clash with table-topping Leeds Rhinos on Saturday.
However, hooker Casey McGuire is free to face the Super League champion Rhinos after he was fined £300 but avoided a suspension for his part in the brawl.
