Rampant Bulls heap more misery on toothless Tigers

18/05/2008

Bradford piled on the misery for rock-bottom Castleford with a 46-24 win in Super League at the Jungle.

The Bulls led 28-14 at the break thanks to tries from Paul Sykes, Terry Newton, Sam Burgess, Glenn Morrison and Richard Langley while Deacon kicked four goals.

The Tigers, who ended disgraced sprinter Dwayne Chambers' trial earlier this month, touched down through Michael Shenton, Ryan McGoldrick and Joe Westerman.

Michael Wainwright and Luke Dorn's tries for the Tigers were cancelled out by Michael Platt, Ben Jeffries, and Simon Finnigan touching down as the Bulls held on to move into fourth place.

Elsewhere, Harlequins completed an astonishing comeback to beat Hull 34-26
at Twickenham Stoop.

The visitors led 16-6 at the break with Richard Whiting, Tommy Lee, and Danny Washbrook crashing over while Craig Hall booted over two goals.

Harlequins crossed over at the end of the half through Tony Clubb, with Henry Paul slotting over a goal.

The home side mounted a sensational comeback to take a 28-20 lead through Julien Rinaldi, Michael Worrincy, Chris Melling, and a second try from Clubb.

Hull reduced their deficit to four points with Kirk Yeaman and Matt Sing crossing over, but Melling scored another try to seal victory which moves Quins into joint seventh place while Hull slip to 11th.

Elsewhere, Huddersfield crushed Hull Kington-Rovers 50-16 at the Galpharm Stadium.

The Giants led 20-6 at the break with Martin Aspinwall, Shane Elford, Luke Robinson, and Michael Lawrence touching down while Cliff Thorman kicked over two goals.

Hull KR kept themselves in the game with Scott Murrell's try with Paul Cooke adding the extras.

But the home side romped to victory with second-half scores from John Skandalis, Leroy Cudjoe, Paul Whaturia, Andy Raleigh, and a second for Lawrence.

The win for Huddersfield moves them into tenth spot while Hull KR drop to ninth place. ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18598528-ADNFCR
