Rhinos power past Saints
06/07/2007
Leeds beat reigning champions St Helens 22-10 at Knowsley Road to go joint top in the Super League.
The Rhinos, who trailed 8-10 at the break, rammed in four tries through Danny McGuire, Rob Burrow, Ryan Hall and Jordan Tansey.
Kevin Sinfield continued his impressive form for the Rhinos by kicking three goals.
The below-par Saints, who were beaten by Leeds earlier in the season, scored two first-half tries through James Roby and Tiro Tyrer, who also kicked a goal.
The result sees the Rhinos join the Saints on 28 points after 19 games with the champions ahead by virtue of points difference.
Elsewhere, Wigan dented Bradford's title hopes with a 25-18 win at the JJB Stadium.
The Warriors, who led 14-10 at half-time, scored tries through Trent Barrett, Mark Calderwood, Liam Colborn and a brace from Phil Bailey.
Chris Ashton kicked two goals while Barrett also booted over a drop goal for the hosts.
The Bulls scored two tries through Ben Harris and James Evans while Paul Deacon kicked five goals.
The defeat for the Bulls sees them remain in third spot on 26 points, six points clear of the Warriors.
Salford remain rock-bottom after going down to an 18-35 loss to Wakefield.
The Wildcats, who led by eight points at the break, rammed in six tries thanks to Jamie Rooney, Duncan MacGillivray, Ben Jeffries, Neil Fox and a brace from Ryan Atkins.
Rooney produced a man-of-the-match display with a drop goal and five goals for John Kear's side.
The Reds touched down three times through Luke Robinson, David Hodgson, and Simon Finnigan.
The Wildcats move up to fifth place with their ninth win of the season while the Reds are a point adrift at the bottom.
