Rover front-row Crossman joins South Sydney
06/10/2008
Hull KR front-row forward Garret Crossman has been released from his contract in order to join Australian NRL side South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Crossman, who joined Rovers from Melbourne Storm at the end of the 2007 season on a two-year deal, made 25 appearances for the east Hull outfit this season.
It is believed the player has been angling for a move back home for some months, but decided to complete the first year of his contract before returning to the NRL.
Robins head coach Justin Morgan said: "I'd like to thank Garret for his contribution this season and wish him all the best for the future."
Rabbitohs chief executive Shane Richardson welcomed the signing of Crossman, describing the player as "a hard working, tough front-rower who will complement our forward pack".
"Garret knows what it takes to win in the NRL having played with the premiership-winning Melbourne Storm team, and he has played strongly in the Super League this season for Hull KR," Richardson continued.
"He's keen to come home and perform for the Rabbitohs in the NRL, and we're looking forward to having him join the squad in November."
