Saints continue marching in Super League

Leaders St Helens maintained their lead at the top of the Super League after a 56-8 thrashing of Huddersfield.

The hosts lead 30-4 at the break and rammed in ten tries and eight goals against the Giants.

Centre Jamie Lyon, veteran Kieron Cunningham, Australian Jason Cayless, and forward James Graham went over for the Saints.

Forward Paul Anderson, Kiwi Francis Meli, three-quarter Ade Gardner, 2004 player of the year Paul Wellens, forward Jon Wilkin and Samoan Maurie Faasavalu also crossed the line for the leaders.

Lyon also kicked six goals while Great Britain captain Paul Sculthorpe kicked two goals in his first match since June due to injury.

Hull clinched their first ever win over Leeds at the Kingston Communications stadium after a 23-16 victory in the Yorkshire derby.

Two tries each from Gareth Raynor and Richard Whiting led the Black and Whites to victory with Sid Domic also crossing the line.

The Rhinos lost their fourth consecutive game after trailing 18-6 at the break with tries from centre Keith Senior, winger Scott Donald and second row Jamie Jones-Buchanan.

Wigan notched up only their eighth win of the season after beating Catalan Dragons 40-4 with a stunning first half performance.

The Warriors led 20-0 at the break and rammed in seven tries at the final whistle.

Winger Mark Calderwood, second row Bryan Fletcher, second row Harrien Hansen and right centre Pat Richards crossed the line for Brian Noble's team.

Aussie David Vaealiki, full back Chris Ashton and hooker Mick Higham added second half tries.

Bradford cemented their position in fourth with a 50-22 thrashing over Warrington.

The Bulls pulverised their opponents, leading 32-6 at half time and eight players were on the scoresheet at the final whistle.

Prop Andy Lynch, right wing Karl Pryce, Kiwi Lesley Vanikolo and second row Brad Meyers crossed the line for the Bulls.

Stand off Stanley Gene, left centre Shontayne Hape, Kiwi Joe Vagana and two from hooker Terry Newton added to the host's advantage.

The Wolves' tries were scored by Toa Kohe-Love, Stuart Reardon and two from Chris Bridge.

Salford mauled injury ravaged Harlequins 34-0 to go level on points with Warrington in fifth place.

Tries from Australian duo Sean Rutgerson and Kevin McGuiness and scrum half Luke Robinson set the Reds on their way to victory in the first half.

Props Gareth Haggerty and Andy Coley along with Aussie Aaron Moule completed the rout.
