Saints handed Wolves test in Challenge Cup draw

23/04/2008

Holders St Helens have been handed a tricky tie in the fifth round of this season's Challenge Cup after being paired with local rivals Warrington Wolves.

The Wolves are currently sixth in Super League and trail Saints on goal difference only, with both teams recording six wins from their opening 11 matches of the season.

Saints are hoping to retain the title they won at Wembley Stadium last season when they beat Catalans Dragons 30-8 to lift the trophy for the 11th time.

And they will continue this campaign at their famous Knowsley Road home in one of the two live matches to be screened by the BBC next month.

The other live game will feature another all-Super League match between Hull KR and Huddersfield Giants at Craven Park.

In the rest of the draw there are two other top-flight ties.

Last year's beaten finalists the Dragons will travel to Odsal to take on Bradford Bulls, while Harlequins are set to welcome Super League and World Club champions Leeds Rhinos to the Stoop.

At least one non-Super League team will definitely be included in the quarter-final draw with National League One side Dewsbury Rams hosting National League Two's Oldham.

The full draw for the Carnegie Challenge Cup fifth round:

Hull KR v Huddersfield Giants
Barrow Raiders v Wakefield Wildcats
Dewsbury Rams v Oldham
Bradford Bulls v Catalans Dragons
Wigan Warriors v Whitehaven
Widnes Vikings v Hull FC
Harlequins v Leeds Rhinos
St Helens v Warrington Wolves

Ties to be played over the weekend of May 10th/11th.ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18563497-ADNFCR
