11/07/2008

St Helens scored 12 tries to crush Castleford 68-12 in Super League at the GPW Recruitment Stadium.

The Saints, who led 46-0 at the break, scored first-half tries through Matt Gidley, Sean Long, Lee Gilmour, Ade Gardner, Paul Clough, Chris Flannery, Jon Wilkin and Francis Meli.

James Roby, Meli, and a brace from Paul Sculthorpe sealed the rout, while Sean Long kicked eight goals, to keep the St Helens top of the table on points difference.

Elsewhere, world champions Leeds remain on level points with St Helens after a 46-8 win over rivals Huddersfield at Headingley-Carnegie.

The Rhinos, who led 18-2 at the break, were led to victory by two tries apiece from Danny McGuire and Ryan Hall.

Scott Donald, Jamie Jones-Buchanan, and Brent Webb also touched down while Kevin Sinfield kicked seven goals.

Elsewhere, Bradford blew a half-time lead to lose 32-28 to Warrington at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

The Bulls scored tries through Andy Lynch, Chris Nero, Semi Tadulala, Michael Platt, and Ben Jeffries while Paul Deacon kicked four goals.

But the Wolves fought back from 12-18 behind at the break to snatch victory thanks to a brace from Mark Gleeson, with Chris Hicks, Matt King, and Louis Anderson crashing over in the second half.

The win for the Wolves sees them climb into fourth spot after 21 games, while the Bulls slip to sixth place. ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18681836-ADNFCR
