Salford snap up Edmondson
17/07/2006
Salford City Reds have today confirmed they have signed powerful front-row forward Mark Edmondson for next season.
The 26-year-old will move from NRL side Sydney City Roosters in time for next season and has agreed terms on a two-year deal.
Edmondson joined the Roosters from St Helens last November to play alongside Great Britain forward Adrian Morley but he has been told he would be released halfway through his two-year deal.
Saints were keen to re-sign the player but Reds football director Steve Simms has said he is delighted to have secured his signature.
"Mark is a quality player," he said. "When he left he was one of the best go-forward front rowers in the competition and I believe he's better now than when he left for the Roosters.
"He will give us a new dimension as he is determined, strong and powerful. We're pretty excited to have landed him."
Salford currently sit in sixth place in the Super League with ten wins and 11 defeats from their 21 games.
