St Helens extend winning streak

28/04/2006

St Helens scored four tries in the second half to brush aside Wakefield 34-8 at Knowsley Road and extend their Super League winning streak to 12 games.

Saints held a tight 10-8 lead at the break after Leon Pryce added to Paul Sculthorpe's early effort to cancel out two tries fromWakefield's Semi Tadulala.

But the home side pulled away in the second half when Pryce grabbed his second and set up Sean Long for another.

Great Britain international Pryce was not at his best but was still too much to handle for Wakefield.

James Graham sealed the win with two more scores in the final minutes.

St Helens are now six points clear of nearest rivals Leeds, though the Rhinos have played a game fewer.

In the night's other game, Bradford demolished Catalans Dragons 54-6 to give Steve McNamara his first win as head coach.

Versatile back Stanley Gene scored a hat-trick of tries for the Bulls as they ran riot against their favourite opponents.

The Bulls beat the Dragons 50-18 away from home in March, and topped the nine tries that night with ten tonight.
