Toopi returns for Kiwis

02/11/2007

Leeds Rhinos centre Clinton Toopi has been called up to the New Zealand team for tomorrow's second Test against Great Britain.

The 27-year-old will win his 20th cap at Hull's KC Stadium as the tourists look to bounce back from last week's 20-14 defeat in the first Test.

Toopi replaces winger Tame Tupou, who is suffering from a knee injury. To accommodate the change, Bradford Bulls back Shontayne Hape moves out to the flank to allow Toopi to line up in his preferred position.

The only other change to the matchday squad sees forward Epahalame Lauki ruled out with a calf strain so hooker David Faiumu fills the vacant berth on the substitutes bench.

New Zealand must win the match to keep the series alive into a third game next weekend after losing the first fixture.

But Great Britain will be looking to take positive steps under new full-time coach Tony Smith, who has resigned his post with Leeds in order to devote his full attention to the national team.

Full New Zealand team:
S Perrett (Sydney Roosters), S Hape (Bradford), C Toopi (Leeds), P Whatuira (Huddersfield), T Tuiaki (Wests Tigers), L Hohaia (NZ Warriors), T Leuluai (Wigan), R Asotasi (South Sydney, captain), D Halatau (Wests Tigers), F Moimoi (Parramatta), S Mannering (NZ Warriors), F Pritchard (Penrith), J Smith (Melbourne).

Substitutes: G Eastwood (Brisbane), L Anderson (Warrington), S Rapira (NZ Warriors), D Faiumu (North Queensland).ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18340237-ADNFCR
