Two more years for Tonga's Willie Manu at Hull FC
02/04/2008
Tongan back row Willie Manu has signed a two-year extension to his current deal at Super League outfit Hull FC.
The 28-year-old is now committed to the KC Stadium until the end of the 2010 season.
Manu, who signed from Castleford when the Tigers were relegated, said he was "really happy" to be staying for another two years.
The second row admitted the new contract meant he could focus on the rest of the season without anxiety.
"The nearer the end of your contract you get without having signed another one the more sleepless nights you have," Manu explained.
"Having got mine sorted I can sleep easier because it has taken that pressure away.
"I can now fully focus on playing some good footie, which is what I want to do."
Black and Whites coach Peter Sharp described the back row star as an "exceptional player" who gave the team "tremendous power and impact value".
"He's a handful to any defence and as we have seen on numerous occasions he causes so much havoc," Sharp said.
Manu added that his immediate thoughts were with Hull and not the World Cup with Tonga.
"I tend to take each game as it comes and if I am fit and get pick for Tonga then great and I'll be more than happy to play in the World Cup," he explained.
"Right now that's a long way off."
