Warriors skipper O'Loughlin out for 12 weeks

21/05/2008

Wigan Warriors captain Sean O'Loughlin has been ruled out for around three months after suffering a broken shoulder blade last week.

The 25-year-old was forced to leave the field towards the end of the home side's 38-14 victory over Warrington Wolves at the JJB Stadium on Friday.

And after being taken to hospital for an X-ray on his upper back, it was revealed that O'Loughlin has sustained a fractured scapula which requires a 12-week rehabilitation process.

Wigan head coach Brian Noble told the Press Association: "We are really disappointed we have lost the services of Sean for the next three months or so.

"It is a blow to both the club and the player. Sean has been in great form for us again this year and as club captain we will obviously miss him both as a player and as a leader."

O'Loughlin has been an ever-present at loose forward for Wigan in Super League this season, scoring two tries in his 16 appearances.

Experienced stand-off Trent Barrett is likely to deputise as skipper during O'Loughlin's absence.ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18603375-ADNFCR
