Wigan bounce back in Perpignan

Wigan Warriors responded to last week's opening day Super League reverse to Warrington by securing a last-gasp victory over Catalans Dragons in the Super League.

Brian Noble's team were behind for most of the game at the Stade Aime Giral, but a try from captain Sean O'Loughlin and subsequent goal from Pat Richards sealed the 18-16 victory at the death.

The French side had looked to be in a comfortable position after Alex Chan and Justin Murphy both crossed the line for tries, while Aaron Gorrell kicked four goals.

But tries from Chris Ashton and Phil Bailey gave the away team a platform for victory, setting the stage for O'Loughlin's last minute heroics.

In tonight's other Super League fixture, Salford produced a stunning comeback to draw 18-18 with Harlequins at the Twickenham Stoop.

As with the Dragons v Warriors match the home team had looked on course for victory following tries from Tyrone Smith, Chris Melling and Paul Sykes.

The Reds refused to give up the ghost though, hitting back through Jon Wilshere and Luke Robinson, before a tackling error from the latter let in Julie Rinaldi to put Quins further ahead.

Not to be outdone however, Andy Coley and Michael Korkidas went down to level the game.

Salford were only denied a perfect comeback by David Hogdson screwing his kick wide in the match's dying seconds.
