Wigan misery continues
05/05/2006
Wigan's miserable start continued as Castleford triumphed 30-24 to hand the home team their 11th Super League defeat of the season.
Castleford ran in four tries through Michal Platt (2), Gray Viane and Brad Davis to lead 22-12 at the break.
Wigan scored the first try of the second half through Nathn McEvoy to cut the gap to four points.
But further tries from Paul Handforth and Willie Manu made the game safe despite a late Mick Higham try.
New coach Brian Noble won his first game in charge at Wigan, but the desperation of the former giants' plight must be starting to hit home.
Hull made it five straight wins with a 28-12 victory over Bradford at the KC Stadium.
Richard Horne shone with a brace, while Gareth Raynor also scored and Kirk Yeaman added two more, including the second half clincher.
Bradford could only muster converted first-half tries from Michael Withers and Karl Pryce.
In the evening's other two games, Leeds beat Harlequins 36-24 and high-flying Salford beat Wakefield 26-12.
Salford and Hull are now level on points in fourth and fifth place, while Leeds go three points clear of Bradford in second place.
