Wildcats romp past Saints

Reigning champions St Helens suffered a shock 29-22 defeat to Wakefield at Belle Vue in the Super League.

The Saints led 18-6 at the break but the Wildcats clinched victory with tries from Ned Catic, Ryan Atkins, Jamie Rooney and Matthew Blaymire after Brett Ferres had crossed the line in the first-half.

St Helens were led by tries from Mike Bennett, James Graham, Leon Pryce and Ade Gardner while Sean Long kicked three drop goals.

The Saints' second straight defeat leaves them in seventh place while Wakefield's first win of the season sees them jump to fifth.

Elsewhere, three tries in eight minutes gave Bradford a 36-20 win over Warrington at the Halliwell Jones stadium

The Bulls trailed 12-14 at the break but tries from Lesley Vainikolo, James Evans and Michael Platt, who bagged a hat-trick, guided the visitors to victory.

Ben Westwood grabbed a brace of tries for the Wolves in the first-half while Chris Leikvoll crossed the line in the closing stages.

Hull K R continued their 100 per cent record in the top flight after a 17-10 win over Huddersfield at the Galpharm stadium

Tries from Scott Murrell and Ben Cockayne gave the visitors victory having led 16-4 at the break.

The win sees Hull climb to third while Huddersfield languish at the bottom with three losses from three games.
