World champions Rhinos go joint top after taming Tigers

Leeds have gone joint top of Super League after a 54-12 win over Castleford at Headingley-Carnegie.

The Rhinos, who led 24-6 at the break, were led by a hat-trick from full-back Jordan Tansey while skipper Kevin Sinfield kicked six goals.

Ashley Gibson, Rob Burrow, Lee Smith, Carl Ablett, Ali Lauitiiti, Brent Webb, and Danny McGuire also touched down.

Castleford scored a try in each half through Richard Owen and Luke Dorn while Kirk Dixon slotted over two goals.

The win moves the Rhinos level on 38 points with St Helens, while Saints play Harlequins on Sunday, while the Tigers remain rock-bottom.

Elsewhere, Wigan defeated Wakefield 32-22 at the JJB Stadium.

The Warriors,, who led 16-4 at the break, scored tries through Tim Smith, Thomas Leuluai, Cameron Phelps, Mick Higham, and Joel Tomkins while Pat Richards kicked six goals.

Wakefield scored tries through Danny Sculthorpe, Duncan MacGillivray and Oliver Wilkes with Danny Brough kicking five goals.

Wigan cement their place in fourth after 25 games while the Wildcats stay in eighth position.

Tomorrow sees Huddersfield host Catalan Dragons, while Bradford take on Hull and Warrington clash with Hull Kingston-Rovers on Sunday. ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18735560-ADNFCR
