Barkley charged with assault

England rugby union player Olly Barkley has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.
Thames Valley police explained that the charge comes after a decision from the crown prosecution service (CPS).
"The charge relates to an allegation of assault at a private event in Stowe, Buckingham, on July 15th 2007," a statement explained.
Barkley, who has 21 international caps to his name, was part of the England Rugby World Cup squad that ultimately lost in the final to South Africa.
The Bath back is due to appear before Aylesbury magistrates court on December 31st.
