Bruno extends Sharks deal
09/01/2008
Sale Sharks have signed French hooker Sebastien Bruno to a new two-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2010.
Bruno followed director of rugby Philippe Saint Andre when he took over at the club in 2004 and has been a mainstay of the side since then.
Despite plying his trade in England, Bruno was still able to secure a place in France's World Cup squad and was Bernard Laporte's first-choice number two throughout the 2007 tournament.
Bruno was instrumental in helping the Sharks win the European Challenge Cup in 2005 and the Guinness Premiership in 2006.
Saint Andre said he was delighted to have secured the services of the hooker for a further two seasons.
He said: "Sebastien is one of the most consistent players in my team. He always gives 100 per cent and never takes a backward step."
At 34 years of age Bruno could have opted to return to France to finish his career but Saint Andre says the hooker is happy at the club and had no desire to leave.
Saint Andre added: "He is very settled living in the Manchester area and is looking to finish his career playing for us, it's great news for the club."
Bruno is likely to be in the Sale line-up for their European Challenge Cup against Petrarca on Friday as they look to continue their success in the competition.
The Sharks currently top pool four on 20 points while they lie fifth in the Guinness Premiership.
