Chuter adds to Ashton injury woes
17/08/2007
England head coach Brian Ashton has had his World Cup preparations disrupted by injury once again with the news that George Chuter has been ruled out of tomorrow's match against France.
The Leicester Tigers hooker has suffered a right knee sprain and will be replaced in the starting XV by Bristol's Mark Regan, who will line up alongside Perry Freshwater and captain Phil Vickery at the head of the pack.
Chuter's Leicester team-mate, flanker Lewis Moody, will also miss the game with a calf injury, while Gloucester scrum-half Peter Richards will play no part because of a back problem.
However in better news for Ashton from the physio room, front-row Andrew Sheridan has been discharged from hospital after being treated for an insect bite that became infected.
Earlier this week the Sale man was told he would not be able to play in Saturday's re-match with the World Cup hosts in Marseilles because of the bite on his lower right leg.
England will be looking to avenge the 21-15 defeat to France at Twickenham last week and have named a formidable side.
Ashton has previously said he would look to play his strongest XV in the match, which is the last fixture before the World Cup opener against USA on September 8th.
Revised England starting XV:
15 - Mark Cueto (Sale Sharks)
14 - Josh Lewsey (London Wasps)
13 - Dan Hipkiss (Leicester Tigers)
12 - Andy Farrell (Saracens)
11 - Jason Robinson (Unattached)
10 - Jonny Wilkinson (Newcastle Falcons)
9 - Shaun Perry (Bristol);
1 - Perry Freshwater (Perpignan)
2 - Mark Regan (Bristol)
3 - Phil Vickery (London Wasps, captain)
4 - Simon Shaw (London Wasps)
5 - Steve Borthwick (Bath)
6 - Martin Corry (Leicester Tigers)
7 - Tom Rees (London Wasps)
8 - Nick Easter (Harlequins)
Replacements

17 - Matt Stevens (Bath)
18 - Joe Worsley (London Wasps)
19 - Lawrence Dallaglio (London Wasps)
20 - Andy Gomarsall (Harlequins)
21 - Olly Barkley (Bath)
22 - Paul Sackey (London Wasps)
