Cohen 'to join Brive'
04/12/2007
Former England and Northampton Saints winger Ben Cohen has agreed a deal to join Top 14 side Brive, according to reports in France.
The 29-year-old has apparently agreed an 18-month contract with the club and will complete the move this month.
Cohen has been in limbo since September when he bought out his contract at Franklins Gardens following the club's relegation from the Guinness Premiership and being overlooked for the captaincy.
He was originally rumoured to be in talks with Leicester Tigers over a move to Welford Road but when the move broke down due to salary cap reasons Cohen was forced to seek other options.
And it now appears he has settled on Brive, which will see him reunited with former international team-mate and fellow World Cup winner Steve Thompson.
The hooker originally joined the French outfit in a coaching capacity but has recently been given the medical all-clear to resume playing.
Thompson was told earlier this year that he would need to give up professional rugby because of a serious neck injury, which could have proved fatal if he played on.
Brive president Patrick Sebastien has been quoted as confirming Cohen's signature although an official confirmation has still not been made.
