Edinburgh pair handed Six Nations debuts

07/02/2007

Scotland have named Edinburgh players Rob Dewey and Phil Godman in their starting line-up to face Wales at Murrayfield on Saturday.

The pair will both be making their Six Nations debuts and are two of the three changes to the side that ran out against England at Twickenham last weekend, replacing centre Andrew Henderson and fly-half Dan Parks respectively.

Fellow Edinburgh man Scott Murray is the other change, replacing Alastair Kellock in the second-row, to win his 81st cap for his country.

Despite speculation that he may be moved to a more central role, captain Chris Paterson keeps his place on the wing, while scrum-half Chris Cusiter and full-back Hugo Southwell are both deemed fit enough to start despite concerns over recent injuries to both players.

Simon Taylor will win his 50th cap against Wales – only the 21st Scot to reach this landmark number.

Fellow veteran Nathan Hines, who has 38 caps to his name, is included among the replacements, along with two other returning faces Nikki Walker and Simon Webster.

Full Scotland line-up vs Wales:

Hugo Southwell (Edinburgh); Sean Lamont (Northampton); Marcus Di Rollo (Edinburgh); Rob Dewey (Edinburgh); Chris Paterson (Edinburgh, captain); Phil Godman (Edinburgh); Chris Cusiter (Border Reivers); Gavin Kerr (Border Reivers); Dougie Hall (Edinburgh); Euan Murray (Glasgow Warriors); Jim Hamilton (Leicester Tigers); Scott Murray (Edinburgh); Simon Taylor (Edinburgh); David Callam (Edinburgh); Kelly Brown (Border Reivers)
