Ex-England coach Robinson joins Scotland summer tour setup
21/04/2008
Former England coach Andy Robinson has been appointed to the Scotland coaching team to be headed by Frank Hadden for the summer tour of Argentina.
The Edinburgh head coach will join Glasgow Warriors' Sean Lineen as part of Hadden's support staff for the two-Test trip to South America.
The games against the 2007 World Cup semi-finalist Pumas will take place on June 7th and 14th and are expected to be a tricky assignment for the Scots, who finished above only Italy in this year's Six Nations.
Their only win, in a scrappy game over England at Murrayfield, did little to encourage the watching Scottish public of Hadden's ability to instil an ethos of expansive, running rugby to the team.
Scottish Rugby chief executive Gordon McKie said the board "believe Frank is still the best man to take the national team forward".
But he added the inclusion of Robinson and Lineen would enable the younger players to progress by providing a slightly different approach.
Commenting on the changes, Hadden said: "Scottish rugby is facing some challenging games in the months ahead and I believe that now is the time to freshen up my management team.
"I am very much looking forward to working closely with Sean and Andy in the build up and during the tour to Argentina.
"They are two top-quality coaches and there is no doubt in my mind that they will bring tremendous experience to the development of this young squad."
