Falcons get European campaign off to a flyer

Newcastle got their European Challenge Cup campaign off to the perfect start with a 63-0 victory over Cetransa El Salvador in Pool Four at Kingston Park.
The Falcons, who led 21-0 at the break, scored tries through Steve Jones, Jamie Noon, Tom May, Ed Williamson, Andy Long, and Tim Visser, Tim Swinson, and Phil Dowson along with a penalty try.
Rory Clegg slotted over nine conversions for Newcastle against the Spanish outfit, ahead of Thursday's trip to Brive.
Elsewhere, Worcester began their campaign by thumping Petrarca 55-6 in Pool Three at the Stadio Plebiscito.
Chris Latham scored a hat-trick for the Guinness Premiership side while Alex Grove scored a brace. Rico Gear, Greg Rawlinson, Sam Tuitupou and Charlie Fellows also crashed over for Worcester while Ben Jones kicked four goals.
Elsewhere, London Irish crushed Rovigo 78-3 in Pool One at the Madejski Stadium.
The Exiles, who led 49-3 at the break, were led to victory by a brace from Peter Richards and Elvis Seveali.
Sailosi Tagicakibau, Seilala Mapusua, Paul Hodgson, Delon Armitage, Topsi Ojo, Chris Hala'ufia and Shane Geraghty also crossed the line while Peter Hewat booted over eight conversions.
