Freshwater and Cudmore cited
17/12/2007
Former England international prop Perry Freshwater is one of two players to have been cited for incidents in the Heineken Cup at the weekend.
The Perpignan front-row was involved in an altercation with London Irish flanker Kieran Roche during a 23-6 victory for the French side.
Roche left the field with a broken cheekbone after he was allegedly elbowed during the pool one clash, which prompted London Irish rugby director Brian Smith to call for immediate action to be taken.
"Perry Freshwater took Kieran Roche out of the game," said Smith.
"These sorts of things simply should not be happening on the pitch."
Meanwhile Clermont Auvergne's Canadian prop Jamie Cudmore has also been called up in front of a European Rugby Cup disciplinary committee after allegedly punching Wasps prop Tim Payne.
The incident, which resulted in a mass brawl between the two teams, resulted in a ten minute sin-bin for Cudmore - Wasps eventually winning the pool five match 25-14.
Freshwater escaped punishment as officials appeared to miss the incident during the match.
The disciplinary processes for the two forwards will begin "as soon as is practicable", expected to be next week.
