Gloucester stun Dragons

30/11/2007

Gloucester mounted a sensational fightback to beat Newport Gwent-Dragons 13-11 at Rodney Parade in the EDF Energy Cup.

The Dragons led 8-3 for most of the game thanks to a try from Adam Black while Ceri Sweeney kicked two penalties.

But the visitors fought back thanks to Gareth Delve touching down, which was converted by Chris Paterson.

Willie Walker then booted over his second penalty to seal a memorable victory in the Anglo-Welsh competition.

The result sees Gloucester top group A with eight points from three matches, while the Dragons languish at the bottom.

Elsewhere, Cardiff Blues overcame Bath 14-6 at the Recreation Ground.

Robin Sowden-Taylor touched down while fly-half Dai Flanagan booted three penalties.

Bath's only contribution to the game was two penalties in the first half from Olly Barkley.

The win for Cardiff cements their second place in group B.

Elsewhere, Leicester have sealed their place in the semi-finals after thumping Sale 32-8 at Welford Road.

Geordan Murphy, Dan Hipkiss, Tom Varndell and Tom Croft crossed the line for the Tigers while Andy Goode kicked three conversions and two penalties.

The Sharks, who trailed 10-3 at the break, touched down through Luke McAllister who also kicked a penalty.

The result sees the Tigers remain top of group B with 11 points from three matches while the Sharks stay in third spot.ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18377756-ADNFCR
