Gloucester win to set up quarter-final clash with Munster
20/01/2008
Gloucester have secured home advantage in the quarter-finals of the Heineken Cup after a 29-21 win over Ulster at Kingsholm.
Akapusi Qera and Alasdair Strokosch touched down in the first-half for the Guinness Premiership leaders to give them a 12-7 at the break.
Andrew Trimble added to Tommy Bowe's try in the first half to put Ulster level before Qera sealed victory with his second try, a result which sees Gloucester face 2006 champions Munster in the last eight.
Elsewhere, Cardiff Blues booked their place in the knockout stages of the European competition after a 17-0 win over Bristol at the Memorial Stadium.
The Blues produced a stunning first half display with tries from Maama Molitika and Gareth Thomas, while Ben Blair kicked two conversions and a penalty to set-up a trip to Toulouse in the quarter-finals.
Ospreys have reached the quarter-finals for the first time with a 28-21 win against Bourgoin at the Stade Pierre Rajon.
The Welsh side, who led 18-6 at the break, were led to victory by tries from Shane Williams, Lee Bryne, and Jonathan Thomas.
Ospreys qualify as one of two best runners-up and face a trip to Saracens in the last eight.
Elsewhere, Harlequins ended their campaign with a 10-31 defeat by Stade Francais at The Stoop.
Simon Keogh crashed over for Quins while Dimitri Szarzewski, Julien Arias, David Skrela, and Ignacio Corleto touched down for the visitors.
The other quarter-final tie sees London Irish entertain Perpignan. The ties will be played on the weekend starting April 4th.
