Henson "fully accepts" two week ban
11/10/2008
Ospreys centre Gavin Henson says he "fully accepts" his two week ban for breaching team discipline rules earlier this week.
Henson will miss his side's opening two fixtures of this season's Heineken Cup against Leicester and Perpignan.
The club previously only said the ban was for "rugby-related internal disciplinary" reasons, however, Henson has now revealed more about the incident.
Henson said he had reacted badly to some criticism while reviewing game footage and then went absent from the team's facility without permission.
The 26-year-old accepted this had breached regulations that had been put in place and agreed to by both the players and management at the club.
He said: "Having received feedback from team management earlier in the week as part of a review of the Ospreys' last home game, I reacted poorly and additionally took unauthorised leave to consider the matters raised.
"Having signed up to the Ospreys' code of conduct introduced earlier this year, I was part of a disciplinary decision from the Ospreys leadership group which consists of senior players and rugby management.
"I fully accept this decision and entirely support the penalty imposed, and very much look forward to rejoining my team-mates on the field."
Henson was making only his second appearance since an ankle injury that had kept him off the field for six months during the EDF Energy Cup match against Harlequins last week.
The suspension now means Henson will be out until the end of October which could jeopardise his place in Wales' squad for the autumn internationals.
