Henson's Wales comeback derailed
16/02/2007
Gavin Henson's bid to return to the Wales international squad has been disrupted by a knee injury.
The infamous centre, who is well-known for his celebrity status as a part-time model and boyfriend of Valleys favourite Charlotte Church, had been pushing for a recall after Kevin Morgan was ruled out through injury.
However, the 25-year-old has been ruled out of his club side Ospreys' Magners League match against Connacht in Swansea with inflammation of his knee.
The injury will sideline Henson for seven to ten days, which effectively rules him out of Wales' next Six Nations fixture against France in Paris.
Henson has been overlooked for the Wales squad in the tournament so far as his club form has been substandard this season.
National team coach Gareth Jenkins was quoted in the media earlier this month, saying "the pressures surrounding [Henson]" were affecting his rugby.
Wales travel to the Stade de France next Saturday in a desperate bid to get their flailing Six Nations campaign off the ground.
They have lost both of their opening two matches to Ireland and Scotland in the competition so far and are yet to score a try.
