Leinster go top

30/11/2007

Leinster have gone top of the Magners League after a hard-fought 10-3 win over Munster.

The visitors were guided by a try from centre Shane Horgan while Argentine international Felipe Contepomi kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Munster were level at 3-3 at the break thanks to a penalty from Ireland fly-half Ronan O'Gara.

The result puts Leinster a point clear of Cardiff Blues while Munster remain in third spot.

Elsewhere, Edinburgh notched up their second consecutive win after overcoming Munster 20-14.

The struggling Irish side made the perfect start when Tommy Bowe crashed over in the fourth minute.

But Edinburgh led 17-5 at the break after centre Matt Dey and full-back Ben Cairns touched down.

Paddy Wallace booted over three penalties for Ulster but Edinburgh sealed victory with two penalties from Phil Godman.

The result sees Edinburgh climb to sixth spot while Munster slide to the foot of the table.

Elsewhere, Connacht beat Glasgow 10-6 for their first win since the opening day of the season.

The Irish side snatched victory in first-half injury-time when hooker Adrian Flavin crossed the line, which was converted by fly-half Andy Dunne.

Scotland fly-half Dan Parks kicked a penalty in each half for the Warriors.

The result eases the pressure on Connacht boss Michael Bradley, whose side are level on points with rock-bottom Ulster.ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18377757-ADNFCR
