New ban for Tigers' Rabeni
25/07/2008
Leicester Tigers wing Seru Rabeni has been handed a nine-week ban for defying an earlier RFU suspension.
The Fijian was originally banned for 14 weeks after admitting gouging the eye of Saracens hooker Andy Kyriacou in March.
Despite the ban he played in three sevens tournaments between April 1st and July 7th.
Last night an RFU disciplinary panel featuring Christopher Quinlan, John Doubleday and John Brennan handed the 29-year-old a further suspension, which begins on August 15th.
Rabeni will not be eligible to feature in any match until October 17th.
