Newspaper names England rugby stars in sex scandal
24/06/2008
A tabloid paper has named the four England rugby stars who were allegedly involved in a hotel room sex scandal last week.
The Sun has claimed the players at the centre of an investigation by the Auckland police are Mike Brown, Topsy Ojo, David Strettle and Danny Care.
No charges have been brought against the players, who were allowed to fly home from the tour with their teammates, because no formal complaint has been received by the authorities.
The newspaper claims the players involved have been ordered to remain silent on the issue and face expulsion from the national team if they disobey the gag order.
And the article quotes a source as saying: "The players involved feel under pressure and angry.
"They are single guys who said they did nothing wrong.
"Players who had nothing to do with it are furious too. The whole squad feels it will stay under a shadow until the air is cleared."
The Sun also claims the woman at the centre of the allegations is an 18-year-old lapdancer from Auckland.
