Players face questioning over England sex row
19/06/2008
Four members of the England rugby union squad currently touring New Zealand will be questioned by police, it has been confirmed.
Auckland police said the incident being investigated took place in a "private room" early on Sunday morning, after England were defeated 37-20 in the first Test by the All Blacks.
Tabloid newspapers have claimed the allegations are of a sexual nature. It is alleged two England players engaged in sexual activities with an 18-year-old girl while two others watched.
The teenager's boyfriend contacted police after she told him she had been raped, it is reported.
The England squad are now in Christchurch where they are preparing for the second Test against New Zealand this weekend.
A statement of support for the players involved has been issued by the team's management.
The England Rugby Football Union has said it is cooperating with police authorities.
