Rabeni faces RFU disciplinary hearing
22/07/2008
Leicester centre Seru Rabeni must face a Rugby Football Union (RFU) disciplinary hearing on Thursday after being accused of playing while banned.
A statement issued by the RFU outlined the offences Rabeni has been charged with.
"Seru Rabeni of Leicester Tigers has been charged with three offences of conduct prejudicial to the interests of the Game (RFU rule 5.12)," the statement read.
"Rabeni is alleged to have played in three sevens tournaments while serving a 14-week (April 1-July 7) suspension for making illegal contact with the eye area of an opponent.
"He has been summoned to appear before an RFU Disciplinary Panel of chairman Christopher Quinlan, John Doubleday and John Brennan at the Bristol Filton Holiday Inn on Thursday, July 24 (7pm)."
The Fiji international was given a 14-week ban for gouging the eye area of Saracens hooker Andy Kyriacou on 15 March.
If the 29-year-old is found guilty of having appeared in three sevens tournaments during his suspension he could miss the start of Leicester's season.
