Saints stung by rampant Wasps
15/04/2007
Wasps piled on the misery for rock-bottom Northampton after a 35-29 win at Adams Park.
Trailing 10-12 at the break, the hosts rammed in four tries through Fraser Waters, Danny Cipriani, and a brace from Paul Sackey to earn a bonus point.
Mark van Gisbergen continued his devastating form with three penalties and three conversions for Wasps.
The Saints, who also earn a bonus point, scored tries through Dylan Hartley and Christian Labit while Reihana kicked four penalties.
The win for Wasps sees them leapfrog into fourth place while the Saints close the gap on 11th placed Worcester to one point.
Elsewhere, Saracens move into third place after a 33-19 win over Harlequins at Vicarage Road.
The hosts scored tries through flanker Kris Chesney, full back Thomas Castaignede, wing Dan Scarbrough, and fly-half Glen Jackson.
Jackson continued his devastating form this season with a conversion and three penalties.
Quins, who trailed 12-14 at the break, scored three tries of their own through centre Mel Deane and a brace from full back Mike Brown.
Elsewhere, late tries from Robbie Russell and Bob Casey gave London Irish a 26-16 win over Worcester at the Madejski Stadium.
In their final home game of the season, Russell and Casey crossed the line in the final ten minutes after the hosts had trailed 12-13.
Sailosi Tagicakibau scored a first-half brace for the Exiles to give them a 12-10 lead at the break to cancel out Ryan Powell's try for the Warriors.
Shane Drahm kicked over the conversion and two penalties but it was enough to prevent defeat leaving their Premiership future undecided.
