Sale duo winning fitness race
28/02/2007
Injured Sale Sharks pair Magnus Lund and Jason Robinson are likely to be fit for England's crunch Six Nations clash against France on March 11th.
Robinson was forced out of the last Six Nations game against Ireland at Croke Park because of an injury to his neck and doubts over his ability to play in the rest of the tournament had been raised.
Sale have confirmed that Robinson has seen a specialist about his neck this week and that he will not require an operation to fix the injury.
"The good news is that the problem should not need any corrective surgery and with the correct rest and rehab Jason should be back playing very soon," said Dave Jones, Sale Sharks' club doctor.
Lund played in that fixture, which ended in a record 43-13 defeat for England, and while his fitness is being closely monitored he feels he will recover in time for selection for the France match at Twickenham.
"I picked up a couple of bangs to the head at Croke Park and am feeling much better," the back-row forward said, although Jones added that he would need to pass "necessary tests" before he would be cleared to play.
"It is very doubtful he will play this weekend but we are hopeful he will be fit next week," Sale's medical expert confirmed.
