Sharks demolish Worcester
23/11/2007
Sale piled on the misery for rock-bottom Worcester with a 34-15 win at the Sixways Stadium in the Guinness Premiership.
The Sharks, who gave a debut to New Zealand star Luke McAllister, led 15-3 at half-time thanks to tries from Rory Lamont and Mark Cueto.
Sale added two more tries after the break through Ben Foden and Dean Schofield while McAllister kicked three penalties in the space of nine minutes.
Worcester staged a mini fightback in the second half with a brace from Pat Sanderson while Shane Drahm kicked a conversion and a penalty.
McAllister helped give the Sharks the perfect start when the centre combined with Lee Thomas to send Lamont clear for the opening try on three minutes.
The Sharks scored their second when Charlie Hodgson's quick cross-field pass found Cueto who crashed over on 15 minutes.
In a thrilling second half, Foden grabbed Sale's third try when he danced past the Worcester defence to cross the line on 56 minutes.
The home side then hit back with Sanderson touching down twice in the space of nine minutes to reduce the deficit.
But McAllister capped off an impressive debut by booting over three penalties before Schofield touched down in the last minute.
