Sharks quartet extend deals
21/02/2007
Four members of the Sale Sharks squad, including England internationals Mark Cueto and Chris Jones, have signed contract extensions at the club.
Jones, who has ten England caps, has signed a four-year extension and Cueto, who has been honoured 18 times by England and was also selected for the British and Irish Lions in 2005, has agreed a three-year deal.
The other two players, Dean Schofield and Richard Wigglesworth, have both signed three-year extensions. Both players have been capped to England Saxons level.
"It is a pleasure to work with these four players," said Sale director of rugby Phillippe Saint Andre.
"They are all excellent English players and I am delighted they have signed new deals to show their long term commitment to help make the club the best in Europe."
The Greater Manchester club, who won the Guinness Premiership last season, are currently seventh in the English league.
The signing of these four players, according to the Sharks, continues their policy of "offering long term contracts to those players who we believe can be the spine of a championship-winning squad into the future".
