Sharks snag Sheridan
21/11/2007
England prop Andrew Sheridan has ended speculation about his future by signing a new three-year contract at Guinness Premiership side Sale Sharks.
The 28-year-old, who was one of the stars of his country's unlikely run to the final of the recent Rugby World Cup in France, had been linked with a number of other clubs as he entered the final year of his deal at Edgeley Park.
However the former Bristol loosehead has opted to remain with the club he signed for in 2003 as he believes the future is bright for head coach Kingsley Jones' side.
"I am very happy at the club and living in the north-west," Sheridan said.
"We have a great bunch of players at the club and I have a lot of respect for [director of rugby] Philippe Saint-Andre and Kingsley Jones.
"It was flattering to know that other clubs wanted to talk to me but I didnt want to move anywhere else."
Saint-Andre himself said it is "great news for the club" that the key player had decided to commit his future to Sale.
"We are keen to develop our own youngsters at the club but we are also determined to keep hold of our world class players like Andrew," he added.
