Shock England recall for Dallaglio
15/06/2007
Wasps forward Lawrence Dallaglio has been handed a shock England lifeline after being named in Brian Ashton's 47-man training squad for the World Cup in France.
The 34-year-old has been frozen out of the international scene for more than a year and failed to make the Six Nations cut.
But his displays in Wasps' back-row during their victorious Heineken Cup campaign has prompted England coach Ashton to give him the chance to earn a place in his final World Cup squad.
Bath lock Danny Grewcock has been dropped from Ashton's plans after he was suspended for the first two games of the tournament for punching an opponent in the European Challenge Cup final.
There was better news for new call-ups Danny Cipriani and Dan Hipkiss however, while Charlie Hodgson, Mike Tindall, Dan Ward-Smith and Andrew Sheridan will all take part in England's Portugal training camp.
